26.2 Miles for Mercy

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. I'll be taking on 26.2 miles on October 13th to support the kids of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

I am taking on this challenge to ensure Mercy Home will continue to have the resources it needs to provide the best care possible. Our Mercy Home Heroes truly believe no distance is too far to save a child.

This will be my fifth year running with Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. Last year was a complete success, not only for myself, but for Mercy as a whole. The 2023 Chicago Marathon was my best marathon yet, and I look forward to having an even better 2024. I have enjoyed running through Lincoln Park, 18th Street, Chinatown, and that dreaded Mount Roosevelt near the end of the race. I even smiled as I approached the finish line, aches and all. Only one memory was worth coming back to, and that was Mercy Mile.

This is not some PR (public relations) talk, and I'm not saying this because I'm with Mercy. This is the truth. Running past Mercy Mile and seeing the smiles on the faces of these children made the race worth running. It's more than achieving personal bests or drawing the energy from the thousands of people watching the race. I run for these kids, and that's why I raise money for them. This is one of the reasons I choose to come back.

I'm not only raising money, but I'm also donating, which is something I do every year. Whatever you have in your heart to give is appreciated. These kids will appreciate it, and your donations will go a long way.

Happy running!

Mercy Home has saved thousands of young lives

Since 1887, Mercy Home has saved thousands of young lives from environments marked by neglect, abuse, and despair. With our help, Mercy Home is able to give our kids the chance to not just survive but thrive. Mercy Home provides guidance for healing and growth, support to catch up in school, and the tools to build a successful and self-reliant future. Last year alone, Mercy Home served more than 1,040 youth and families through their residential, community care, mentoring, and referral programs.

And because Mercy Home is nearly 100% privately funded, the support of people just like you and me is critical to our mission. I am running to ensure Mercy Home will continue to have the resources it needs to give these kids hope for tomorrow. As Mercy Home Heroes, we believe no distance is too far to save a child.
