Welcome to our 2020 Heroes Challenge fundraising page!
In 2019, we ventured through the 29 neighborhoods of Chicago to cross the finish line in support Mercy Home. Running a marathon is a personal achievement, but running it to support the kids of Mercy Home really helps to push you through 26.2 miles. Jeff and I did not plan to run a marathon this year (Jeff said 1 is enough :) ), but we were looking forward to standing on the side lines to support our fellow Heroes. Unfortunately, the Chicago Marathon was cancelled due to Covid-19.
As you all know, MercyHome is an organization that is near and dear to our heart. This year, a year of ups and downs and uncertainty, the Mercy Home Heroes have come together with one goal in mind...to put the kids first.
We're using this platform to create our own personal challenges in lieu of the 2020 Marathon. During the week of October 5-11, the Loves have committed to running 26.2 miles.
We don't have a fundraising goal in mind. All we are asking is to donate what you can; maybe matching per mile or even just skipping a coffee for 1 day and donating that to the kids. The children at Mercy Home need us now more than ever. Please consider making a donation to this incredible cause!
Why I am raising money for Mercy Home?
Since 1887, Mercy Home has saved thousands of young lives from environments marked by neglect, abuse, and despair. With our help, Mercy Home is able to give our kids the chance to not just survive but thrive. Mercy Home provides guidance for healing and growth, support to get caught up in school, and the tools to build a successful and self-reliant future. Last year alone, Mercy Home served more than 1100 youth and families through their residential, aftercare, mentoring, and referral programs. And because Mercy Home is more than 99 percent privately funded, the support of people just like you and me is critical to our mission. I am completing this challenge to ensure Mercy Home will continue to have the resources it needs to create brighter futures for these kids. As Mercy Home Heroes, we believe no distance is too far to save a child.
