Friends & Family-
Welcome to my 2020 Heroes Challenge fundraising page! Unfortunately, unlike the past two years I will not be running an official marathon. As you might have heard, the Chicago Marathon was cancelled due to Covid-19.
For many, this was understandably heartbreaking news. I was admittedly relieved, silently (or maybe not so silently) dreading my next long run. This is when I realized that for me, it was never really about the marathon. For me, it was always about the kids.
So this year…we are pivoting! I’ve used this platform to create my own personal challenge in lieu of the 2020 Marathon. During the week of October 5-11, I have committed to running 26.2 miles.
My fundraising goal is the same as it has been in the past because the children at Mercy Home need us now more than ever. Please consider making a donation to this incredible cause! XX
Why I am raising money for Mercy Home?
Since 1887, Mercy Home has saved thousands of young lives from environments marked by neglect, abuse, and despair. With our help, Mercy Home is able to give our kids the chance to not just survive but thrive. Mercy Home provides guidance for healing and growth, support to get caught up in school, and the tools to build a successful and self-reliant future. Last year alone, Mercy Home served more than 1100 youth and families through their residential, aftercare, mentoring, and referral programs. And because Mercy Home is more than 99 percent privately funded, the support of people just like you and me is critical to our mission. I am completing this challenge to ensure Mercy Home will continue to have the resources it needs to create brighter futures for these kids. As Mercy Home Heroes, we believe no distance is too far to save a child.
